The March meeting of the NJAGC was hosted by Jim L. in Bloomingdale, NJ on Saturday, March 23, 2019. There were nineteen members in attendance.
We had four first time club members attending this meeting. They were: Kehoe, Ven R, Kat D, and her friend Maria S. We got to welcome back two old-time members after a long absence: Johnny A and Hank S. It was good to see Johnny and Hank again. It was a very pleasant surprise. Those that have been long time attendee’s: Jerry S, Steve M, Darek K, Phil H, Glenn M, Evan S, Scott J, Oscar M, Kevin W, Denise T, Vijay A, and Kunhan L. And we can’t forget our host, Jim L.
Our club Vice President Jerry S opened the meeting with some club business and announcements.
We then went down to Jim’s basement where he keeps his fish tanks. Here Glenn is pointing out something in Jim’s Convict Cichlid tank.
We had a huge amount of food of all types and greatly enjoyed it. But, for most of us, the plant swap held a greater interest. Here we are waiting to start the plant swap.
Jerry spoke briefly on how to prepare tank grown Cryptocoryne for planting. He used plants which were dug up after years of growth and had a huge root system. He explained the need to prune off 30-50% of the leaves up top and to shorten the roots to about 2-3″ long.
A better view of the plant swap.
Just one of the many side conversations had among the membership.
More plants being swapped.
A lot of joking goes on while we share ideas and plants.
