Scott began to tell us about his tank. He calls it his, “75 gallon Miracles Starphire tank”
Full Tank Shot of the 75 gallon Miracles Starphire tank
His 75 gallon tank was established last July and is fitted with a custom sliding top. The substrate is Fluorite black gravel. Scott does not use CO2 in his aquarium, he uses Excel as his carbon source.
Filtration consists of both an Eheim 2217 and 2215 filter and 3 Purigen pads. Lighting is 3 sets of LEDs – Aqua Ray GroBeam, 600 in the middle and 500 on the outsides. PAR readings using the Hoppy meter were 15 in the middle of the tank at the bottom, 20 towards the back and 38 at the surface.
Using the Hoppy PAR meter to check the light levels in Scott’s tank.
Lighting is kept at mid-level for low to medium growth. Scott also showed us his quarantine tank and 2 shrimp tanks.
One of the shrimp tanks…
…that also houses a pair of orange dwarf mexican crayfish (CPO)
Another shrimp tank with red cherry shrimp, crystal red and crystal black shrimp.
There is always plenty of food at our meetings. Thanks to our host and members.
We had our plant swap with the plants brought by the members.
Some more photos of Scott’s tanks. Enjoy!
I wonder what Frank said to get that reaction from Hank?
A great time was had by all. Thank you, Scott for opening up your home to us. Next meeting will be held at Aram’s on Saturday, April 14.
